What is the difference between Tri-ply Clad and Tri-ply Base cookware?

The difference between Tri-Ply Clad and Tri-Ply Base cookware lies in the construction and distribution of their metal layers.

Tri-Ply Base cookware features three bonded layers at the bottom only, with single-ply stainless steel along the sidewalls. Making it suitable for everyday meals like boiling or simmering.

In contrast, Tri-Ply Clad cookware has three fully bonded layers of stainless steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, that extend from its base all the way through its sidewalls to the rim. This full-body construction ensures even heat distribution across all surfaces, providing more balanced weight and superior cooking performance, especially for more precise tasks like searing, sautéing, and making sauces.

How do I correctly use a Tri-Ply pan?

To get the best performance from your tri-ply pan, follow these guidelines:

Preheat Gradually: Start by preheating your tri-ply pan over medium heat.Tri-ply pans are designed to distribute heat evenly, so there's no need to use high heat, which could cause food to stick or burn.

Avoid High Heat: Tri-ply pans conduct heat efficiently, so cooking on medium or medium-high heat is usually sufficient. High heat is generally unnecessary and could lead to overheating, especially if cooking delicate foods.

Allow Food to Release Naturally: When searing or browning, let the food cook undisturbed until it naturally releases from the pan. If it's sticking, it likely needs more time.

By following these tips, you can maximize the benefits of your tri-ply pan, ensuring great cooking results every time.

How do I season a cast-iron pan on the stovetop?

To season a cast-iron pan on the stovetop, follow these steps:

Clean the Pan: Wash the pan with warm water and a bit of mild soap, if necessary. Dry it thoroughly with a towel.

Apply Oil: Using a cloth or paper towel, rub a thin layer of vegetable oil, flaxseed oil, or melted shortening all over the inside and outside of the pan.

Heat the Pan: Place the pan on your stovetop and turn the heat to medium. Let the pan heat up until it starts to smoke slightly. This allows the oil to bond with the iron, forming a protective layer.

Cool Down: After the pan has smoked for a few minutes, turn off the heat and let it cool completely on the stovetop.

Repeat this process 2-3 times to build a stronger seasoning layer. Regular stovetop seasoning can help maintain the nonstick quality and longevity of your cast-iron pan.

What type of oil can I use to season my cookware?

Any type of high smoke point cooking oil will work to season your cookware. Some examples of  oils with a high smoke point are flaxseed oil, grapeseed oil, or vegetable oil are often recommended.

Can I use a metal spoon on the ceramic pan?

It's best to avoid using metal spoons or utensils in a ceramic-coated pan. Metal utensils can scratch or damage the ceramic coating over time, which may reduce the pan's nonstick properties. We recommend using wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils to help preserve the coating and extend the life of your pan.

How do I clean a ceramic-coated pan?

To clean a ceramic-coated pan, follow these steps:

Cool the Pan: Allow the pan to cool completely after cooking. Placing a hot pan under cold water can damage the ceramic coating.

Hand Wash with Mild Detergent: Use warm water and a soft sponge or cloth with a mild dish soap to gently clean the surface. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemicals, as they can scratch or damage the coating.

Rinse and Dry: Rinse the pan thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue, and dry it immediately with a soft towel to prevent water spots.

Store Properly: To protect the ceramic coating, avoid stacking other cookware on top of your pan, or use a soft cloth or pan protector between them.
Following these steps will help keep your ceramic-coated pan looking new and performing well for years to come.
